WalMart to start selling $99 iPhones?

The big rumor on the intarwebs today is that WalMart could start carrying an iPhone Mini before the end of the year. And before you get your hopes up, the “mini” I’m talking about is a throw back to the 4GB iPhones that were for available when the product was introduced last summer.

The “Jesus Phones” are rumored to sell for as little as $99 — which would fall in line with the aggressive selling model that Steve Jobs laid out in October. Jobs also mentioned that Apple would need to continue to analyze the competition to avoid undercutting by so-called “iPhone killers” in the cellular market place. If the rumor is true, it looks like it’s probably safe to assume that offering the iPhone for sale in the aisles of the largest merchandiser on the planet would throw yet another wrench in the spokes of said competition.

We’ll be keeping our eye on this story and will give you more details as they become available. Stay tuned!
