iPhone 2.2 update now available

Last Friday Apple released the iPhone 2.2 Software Update which delvers to iPhone users a number of improvements, most notably, improved mapping capabilities. Some of the new features include:

  • Google Street View: Just like the desktop version, street view gives you a “virtual walking tour” of your destination.
  • Public transit and walking directions: Your iPhone can now help you get walking directions as well as public transit schedule, fares and estimated travel time.
  • Podcast downloading: You can now download your favorite podcasts directly to the device over the Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
  • Improved stability of Safari: Users that complained of “random crashing” should see an improvement in browsing with Safari. A few UI enhancements will also make Safari even easier to use.
  • Auto-correction option: Gives users the ability to turn the keyboard correction on/off. Hooray!
  • Much more…

The iPhone and iPod Touch 2.2 upgrade is available through iTunes 8 and can be downloaded the next time you attach your device to your computer.
