New MacBook and MacBook Pro case shots popping up

There has been no formal announcement of a Mac event rumored to take place next Tuesday, October 14th, but that doesn’t stop the rumor mill from churning! Yesterday Engadget posted “spy shots” of what they believe to be the next-gen case of the upcoming MacBook Pro. Sporting the “Brick look”, this leaked picture shows what looks to be a solid aluminum casing with familiar looking MacBook Pro side inputs in view.

As if that wasn’t enough to pique our interest, just today other pictures have surfaced claiming to be the new aluminum MacBook keyboard casing. These pictures are a little fuzzy and it’s really hard to tell their authenticity. Some are even suggesting that these pictures are no more than a spray-painted, current MacBook case. Hard to say, judge for yourself. One thing to note—if the Brick rumors do hold true, this case looks like it would be made up of a couple pieces, not the single brick of aluminum rumored to form the outer casing of the upcoming refresh.

One thing’s for sure—it’s already Thursday and there has been no formal announcement by Apple that would introduce the new MacBook and/or MacBook Pro next week. It looks like it either won’t happen or that they’re going to launch them quietly. Given the importance of a long-overdue refresh and potential new product materials, we think that Apple would want to make a big deal out of the update. Time will tell, hopefully we’ll see either the announcement or product update soon.
