iTunes 8 to feature HD content and “Genius” recommendations?

Kevin Rose is at it again. He first dropped word of the upcoming Apple event last week and now he’s giving us further details on the state of iTunes and what to expect next Tuesday’s special event. According to Rose’s source, iTunes 8 will give users the option to download HD television shows and content, a feature that is currently only featured as part of Apple TV.

In addition to HD content, an iTunes visualizer that’s been described as “breathtaking”, and as-good-as-announced new iPods, the next version of iTunes is also rumored to contain a robust recommendation system tentatively called “Genuis”. The new system supposedly creates playlists for you based on the what would “go great together” with the songs you’ve just recently listened too. And it doesn’t stop there; iTunes will also recommend songs from the iTunes store that will cater to your listening habits and taste. This is either incredibly cool or incredibly creepy. You make the call. Either way, we’re pretty excited to see what comes to fruition in just six short days!
