iPhone production reaches 8 million so far

According to the Apple Finance Board, production numbers for the first-gen iPhone and iPhone 3G have reached and/or exceeded the 8 million mark so far. More than 5.6 million 3G models have been produced since the product launched in July and 2.4 million first-generation iPhones were sold in the first half of 2008.

Apple’s goal of 10 million iPhones may be a bit conservative after all, with production and sales expected to exceed the initial mark. At the rumored pace of 800,000 iPhones produced each week, the goal of 10 million iPhones would be reached before the end of the year.

The only thing that sucks about this is that I haven’t recieved mine yet.
Pre-booked it in Belgium, was at the Apple Store two weeks ago and did this. Then they said 1 - 2 weeks which sounded OK.
Then I went there yesterday and now thay say 6 - 8 weeks.

    How come?! Apple makes a bloody 400 000 iPhones / week! :O
