With the impending Apple event in a little more than a week away, there are reports that Apple is asking some of it’s resellers to halt the sales of a wide variety of Mac products including Mac Minis, MacBook Pros, iPods and even Cinema Displays (which have LONG been rumored to see a refresh at some point soon).
Even though resellers are being asked to account for less product, this does not necessarily mean that Apple is planning a product-wide refresh. There are certain supply and demand scenarios that would also cause Apple to pull the plug and stop refreshing these resellers with product. For instance, a few retailers simply “ran out” of MacBooks toward the end of July as consumers prepared for sending kids back to school with shiny new Macs.
A particularly interesting point is that Apple is in fact due to refresh or relaunch certain products which would lend more credibility to the rumor that these new products could come as part of the special September 9th event. And with the holiday shopping rush coming sooner each year, it’s no surpise that Apple would want to get a leg up on the competition this year.
