According to AppleInsider, iPod retailers such as Target are indicating that the current line of iPods have been switched over to “discontinued” status. And the switch isn’t just here in the States; similar things are happening in the UK with retailer Argos announcing price reductions and new displays for late August or early September.
Some Wall Street analysts have indicated that Apple is looking to consolidate their existing iPod line-up to further their strong position in the market and PMP business. And now that the iPhone 3G has been released with an insanely low price point, it seems only right that there’s a sub-$200 iPod Touch for the iPod faithfuls.
According to Q3 financial reports, Apple has shown sales of over 11 million iPods; up 12 percent from the same quarter last year.
I knew I should have waited to go Christmas shopping.
