A three-alarm fire broke out at the Valley Green 6 building on the Apple Campus on Tuesday night. Firefighters were working hard to extinguish the blaze, however, there are still reports of them working to contain the fire within the building. Luckily, this took place at night and the fire department is reporting no injuries.
Since the fire was in Apple’s R&D department, it’s unknown the extent of the damage to current or future product development. We’re glad everyone’s safe, but can’t help but feel sad that there could have been great new products lost in the fire. Hopefully all of the great “yet to be released” products are alright.
Here is a video from CBS5 KPIX San Francisco with an updated report on the fire.
UPDATE: There seems to be some confusion as to where the fire actually took place. Since most of Apple’s campus could probably be considered R&D, it’s not surprising that that was the first logical conclusion. However, according to this post, the fire was actually in the Information Systems and Technology building. If we hear any new information, we’ll be sure to pass it along.
The fire was probably caused by an overheating Macbook Pro… just kidding, but no really — those bastards get hot.
