New MacBooks to ship with glass trackpads?

Black this time, a nice change

According to some, the next generation of MacBooks is due for a refresh sometime in the third quarter. This is nothing new, rumors of a notebook refresh have been circling the intertubes for a while now. However, a new rumor has popped up today that caught our attention. According to Computerworld, the next MacBook revision could include a glass track pad. Yes, you read that right; a glass trackpad. If this is true, it’s almost certain that the new MacBook will ship with capabilities similar to it’s thinner brother, the MacBook Air. A few more rumors from Seth Weintraub’s post include:

  • A thinner than current MacBook and MacBook Pros and slightly more rounded look, taking design cues from the MacBook Air
  • The notebook’s body will be manufactured out of one piece of aluminum, making it eco-friendly, yet sturdy.
  • The release date for new MacBooks will be in the “late weeks of September”

We can’t wait to see what Apple has up their sleeves and will be sure to keep you updated with any new developments and/or product confirmations.
