Mac OS X 10.6 to be Intel-only

Ars Technica is reporting that the next version of Mac OS X, code-named “Snow Leopard“, and will indeed be Intel-only. From recent discussions heard around the inter-Googles, it looks like Apple could have the next version of it’s OS X operating system ready to ship as early as this coming January; just in time for Macworld 2009.

Although Apple is expected to launch a new version of the iPhone next week at WWDC, it is unknown whether OS X 10.6 will be a featured part of the ceremonies. One thing is for sure; with an update like this, the PowerPC users will be left in the dust once and will be forced to upgrade their machines or feign happiness with an out-dated operating system.
