Apple officially announces free iPod Touch during back-to-school promo

There was a lot of speculation on the web over the past couple days that Apple was gearing up for it’s best back-to-school promo ever. Boy did they deliver! We mentioned yesterday that all signs pointed to Apple offering a free iPod Touch with the purchase of a qualifying Mac. The promotion was announced today and is eligible to all college students, faculty, and staff members who purchases a qualifying Mac before September 15th, 2008.

In order to qualify for the back-to-school promotion, the iPod and Mac system must be purchased at the same time and on the same receipt. Qualifying Mac systems include the MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Pro. All other Macs (including the Mac Mini and previous-generation 17″ iMacs), iPods and iPhones, as well as refurbished products are not eligible. More information can be found on Apple’s back-to-school promo page.
