There has been a lot of talk about what Steve Jobs is to Apple. He is Apple. But what happens when he decides to retire. According to an article on Timesonline.co.uk, the next most likely person to inherit the thron is none other than Jonathan Ive, the company’s Senior Vice Presidet of Industrial Design.
The speculation arises since there has been a “call for a plan for ‘Apple after Steve Jobs’”. It has been said that this is not that far fetched considering Ive and Jobs are both obsessed with perfection and have an extremely close working relationship. There are people who are unsure of this transition. After all, Apple is almost entirely based on the personality traits of one man, the need for someone as charismatic and dynamic is something that the company can’t overlook. And don’t forget that there has been talk of an outside successor in the past. In fact it was rumored that Eric Schmidt, Google’s CEO, was named temporary Apple CEO amidst the option-backdating scandal of a few months back.
