New iPhone ads hit the small screen

We all remember the incredible beauty and simplicity of the first iPhone commercials. A tight shot of the product doing what it does best; just working. What a novel concept, right? With the addition of three new iPhone commercials, Apple is taking some of the best features the device has to offer and showing them off in a real world way. Whether it’s looking up someone’s name before a quick lunch or skipping over a long voicemail from someone who promises they’ll get you the money they owe you “real soon”, the ads again put the product in the spotlight by showing off some of the wonderful features of the iPhone.

Even though the ads are well thought out and still honed on the functionality of the device, some of the actors (or characters, I’m not sure of Apple’s spin on this) don’t quite do it for me. I’m sorry, but a 300 lb. body builder is not someone that I would have considered to be an iPhone “spokesperson”. Or is this the point that Apple’s trying to make? Are they trying to put a new face on their target market by introducing new devices that aren’t so niche specific? These ads are clearly designed with the intent to get more non-traditional Apple consumers involved in their digital lifestyle.

Check them out for yourself, I would love to hear what some of you think about the new spots and the intended target audience.
