AppleInsider reported that Disney’s chief executive, Robert Iger, announced last week that the company has sold 23.7 million TV shows and 2 million movies through Apple’s iTunes.The company has earned $931 million from the sale of the shows and movies, nearly 44 cents a chair, up from $733 million, or 37 cents a share, just last year.
Iger also added that viewers have also watched 92 million ad-supported TV shows on ABC.com and 91 million TV episodes on the Disney Channel Website. The company is still maintaining an average sales rate of 62,500 movies each week, or about 9,000 movies a day. Our last update from the company was on Nov. 9th, 2006, when Disney had sold 500,000 films through Apple’s iTunes, meaning it has sold 1.5 million films in the last 6 months.
