As of today, Apple Inc.’s iTunes movie library has grown again, now to over 500 flicks with the addition of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.(better known as MGM) films such as “Rocky”, “Dances with Wolves”, and the musical “Lilies of the Field”.
“It’s exciting to be bringing so many amazing films from our catalog to iTunes. We have an unrivaled movie library and are looking forward to adding even more films in the future so users can take their favorite movies with them wherever they go,” said MGM’s executive vice president of Worldwide Digital Media, Douglas A. Lee.
Not only is MGM the largest modern film library in the world, but it is also has the biggest award winning film collection in history, with over two hundred Academy Awards.
All of the films purchased through iTunes can be viewed on computers, iPods, and now on your widescreen television with the help of Apple’s latest creation, Apple TV. This new joint venture between Apple and MGM will certainly keep both companies breaking records, as Apple has sold over two million films through iTunes, making it the world’s most popular online movie store.
Apple’s vice president of iTunes, Eddy Cue, spoke about the new collaboration today and said, “We’re absolutely thrilled so many legendary MGM films are joining an iTunes film catalog that now has over 500 movies.”
