Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs, has come under fire over the weekend by criticizing teacher’s unions by claiming that no amount of technology in schools can compensate for the poor teachers that clutter the public school systems.
He continued by saying that the problem in U.S. schools is that they have become so severely unionized that firing teachers for being bad educators is frowned upon.
Job’s made these bold statements at an educational reform conference in Austin, Texas, that he attended with Chief executive and found of Dell, Michael Dell.
It will not come as a surprise to Steve Jobs that local and national people are unhappy and offended by his comments. Jobs stated that he is sure “Apple just lost some business.”
But Job’s did not spend the whole day pointing fingers, he also shared his visions of free, online, and up to date textbooks for future schools in the U.S.
“I think we’d have more current material available to our students and we’d free up a tremendous amounts of funds that we could buy delivery vehicles with - computers, faster Internet, things like that. And I also think we’d get some of the best minds in the country contributing,” said Jobs about his visions.
