With the Apple Inc. vs. Apple Corps dispute behind us, a new flurry of rumors has come about from their peaceful resolution. It will not come as a surprise that these rumors also have to do with the upcoming release of The Beatles collection of music from iTunes.
The latest rumor is that Apple will release a special edition “The Beatles: Yellow Submarine” that will contain The Beatles music pre-loaded. According to Leander Kahney of Wired News, with the lawsuit coming to a close, it provides Steve Jobs with the opportunity to sell “physical media delivering prerecorded content.”
Apple has come close to this possible phenomenon with the release of the U2 iPod that was released with a voucher to purchase U2’s music after the purchase of the special edition iPod. Assuming this goes through, Apple can re-release the U2 iPod with their music already loaded, in addition to creating a special edition iPod to correlate with The Beatles music.
This could also allow Apple Inc. to sell special edition iPod shuffles with newly released cd’s or ones for popular and upcoming artist. Apple would not be the first to join in on the idea of having preloaded music on music players, arch rival, Microsoft’s Zune, sells its players with sample music.
