In a move that has Microsoft pretending not to care, Google CEO Eric Schmidt is the latest addition to the Apple board of directors. The Google-Apple alliance could spell big trouble for the Redmond-based Microsoft as the two companies align themselves to battle the aging giant. This partnership could mean more innovation and product sharing, ultimately resulting in a better overall user experience.
Schmidt is now one of eight board members that include former Vice President of the United States (and internet inventor) Al Gore and the Chairman and CEO J. Crew, Millard Drexler to name a few. Oh, and don’t forget Steve Jobs. It will be interesting to see how this union plays out and if this means more headache and less sleep for Bill Gates.
