The cat might be out of the bag thanks to Steve Beeks, the president of Lions Gate films. From a recent Lions Gate conference call transcript, “In terms of iTunes movie downloads, I think most likely some time before the end of the year. We know when they are planning on launching, but since they have not announced it publicly, I do not think it is our place to say anything more about that. Calendar year.”
The downloadable movie rumor has been spreading across the web like wild fire recently, and this slip of the tongue might just seal the deal. The only question now is when we will see movies start appearing on iTunes. If Mr. Beeks is correct, we could see this service launched just in time for the holiday season.
