Apple’s profits have been on the rise, party due to the healthy sales of next-gen iPods. However, the company has fallen under scrutiny of late as charges of illegal plant practices and “sweatshop-like” working conditions have surfaced. Foxconn, an iPod manufacturing plant in China, has been the target of these allegations and has lead Apple to launch a full-scale investigation.
The investigation consisted of research revolving around the plant’s labor standards, working and living environment, compensation and worker treatment. Apple has since released their findings, stating that “We found the supplier to be in compliance in the majority of the areas audited. However, we did find violations to our Code of Conduct, as well as other areas for improvement that we are working with the supplier to address.”
